The MESA Air study was funded in 2004 by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The clinics were in Baltimore, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, St. Of the people in the study, 39% were white, 27% black, 22% Hispanic, and 12% Chinese. The participants lived in six major cities across the United States.
