Why are even the smartest journalists unable to get beyond the hype when it comes to automobiles and alternative fuels? One altfuel epiphany Pogue blogged in May, 2006 came watching The Amazing Race 9 (CBS) in Brazil, where sugar cane-based ethanol has eliminated petroleum imports and reduced pollution. Man, I sure hope so.

If they force noice makers on Hybrids and EVs, this will be yet another break down in common sense. My friend (same one who made the ice cream truck sound effect comment to me) asked me if this was some kind of conspiracy from gasoline advocates to try and further delay mass acceptance of EVs. I have stated the same before.
