Intake and exhaust variable cam timing (VTC) is deployed to provide an excellent balance of high power, torque, fuel economy, and emissions. Conversely, high gear (9 th ) has been optimized for fuel efficiency during steady-state highway cruising. The structure is similar to those found in some Honda racing engines.
