Until then, we can always program the ESS to make what Lotus refers to as "more futuristic sounds for electric vehicles [that] can be created using sampled sounds and generated waveforms." More data needs to be gathered before we truly understand whether the lack of a running engine makes a difference in pedestrian safety.
