We spent a week in the smallest Genesis sedan that is designed to take-on the BMW 3-series and Mercedes-Benz C-class sports sedans and found it was a lot of well-engineered car for the money. Power, but not enough efficiency to hit 30 mpg. The EPA fuel economy numbers of 21 mpg city/26 highway/23 combined are almost exactly what we got covering 301 miles driving through Southern California. We were hoping to get 30 mpg on the highway, but no matter how hard we tried the best we could do was 28.1

Competing in the premium midsize SUV category, the 2021 Cadillac XT5 is right in the middle of stiff competition, including models from Acura, Audi, BMW, Genesis, Infiniti, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Tesla and Volvo. We were surprised to cross the 30 mpg mark for this 3,915-pound, five-passenger midsize SUV.

liter V8 has direct injection with active fuel management, using cylinder deactivation to maximize fuel efficiency. Premium fuel is required to get the full 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. If you order the performance exhaust or go for the Z51 package, those numbers go up to 495 and 470.

Fuel economy for the Stinger GT-Line is EPA rated at 22 mpg city/32 highway/25 combined. mpg, and 33.0 mpg on a 140-mile freeway run using the adaptive cruise control set at 65 mph. The Environmental Protection Agency rates the Corsair’s fuel economy at 33 mpg highway and combined when running in hybrid mode only. On a 68-mile run, setting the adaptive cruise control at 65 mph and after fully charging the battery, we averaged 58 mpg. The bumper, with a flat top, sits above the dual exhaust chrome tips.

The EPA has rated the GV80’s fuel economy at 21 mpg city/25 highway/23 combined. It wasn’t easy, but cracking 30 mpg on the open road was a nice surprise in this size of car.
