In their extensive analysis of the physical and chemical composition of the emissions, McDonald and colleagues found that the most abundant pollutants were carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, NO, and NO 2. The ACES results are expected to play an important role in future risk reviews of diesel engines by international and US agencies.
