The Gen III Prius offers an EPA-rated combined cycle fuel economy of 50 mpg (now revealed to comprise 50 mpg city and 49 mpg highway). An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system has also been added. EV mode helps keep the vehicle in electric-only operation for up to about 1 mile at speeds less than 25 mph.
