On Tuesday Obama announced rules that will bring new cars and trucks sold in the USA to an average of 35.5miles per gallon by 2016 - around 10mpg above today’s standards. In a statement it suggested that it will speed up its pursuit of various ecological technologies, including hybrid technology.
