Based on records going back to 1880, the monthly National Climatic Data Center analysis is part of the suite of climate services NOAA provides. Warmer-than-normal conditions also prevailed across Europe, most of Asia and Australia. This was the third largest September extent on record, behind 2006 and 2007. Credit: NOAA.
