Wang entered the automobile business in 2003 by buying a Chinese state-owned car company that was all but defunct. They generate fewer greenhouse gas emissions than cars that burn gasoline, and they have lower fuel costs, even when oil is cheap. The day after Fortunes visit to BYD, Oregon Gov. Electric cars will be one answer.
