The battery pack is comprised of 5,088 lithium-ion cells for a cummulative 35kWhrs of energy storage. The Tesla Roadster represents the evolution of AC Propulsion’s 12 year old tzero which in 2002 pioneered the use of lithium-ion batteries (6,800 cells) demonstrating 0-60mph acceleration times in the 3.6 second range.
