Converted hydrogen fuel cell refuse vehicle on trial in Ruhr region as part of HECTOR

The Abfallentsorgungs-Gesellschaft Ruhrgebiet mbH ( AGR ), a waste management company in Herten, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, has put a converted DAF CF 340 hydrogen fuel cell truck into operation as part of the EU-funded HECTOR (Hydrogen Waste Collection Vehicles in North West Europe) project.

European Fast-E project launches; 278 fast-charging points in Germany and Belgium

The Fast-E project, co-financed by the European Union and nine companies, has officially launched , with the objective of installing 241 fast-charging charging stations in Germany and 37 in Belgium. A sister project between the Czech Republic and Slovakia will add another 30 charging stations.

Alstom demonstrates fully autonomous driving of a shunting locomotive in the Netherlands

This demonstration concludes a series of tests that are part of an ongoing partnership between Alstom, ProRail and Lineas. The Group has carried out successful ATO tests in France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the UK. Diesel-hydraulic shunting locomotive owned by Lineas used for the demonstration.

Scania and European Gigafactory developer Northvolt partner for heavy vehicle electrification

Scania, a member of the Volkswagen Group, and Northvolt, a 2016 startup building a European Gigafactory (planned 32 GWh annual capacity) for Li-ion batteries ( earlier post ), have agreed to develop and commercialize battery cell technology for heavy commercial vehicles.
