They are intended for use in the eastern region in Austria, where they will replace the current diesel fleet. The vehicle has an operating range of around 100 kilometers. This means that the regional train can be battery operated on almost all of the non-electrified routes in Austria, for example.

Vienna transit operator orders 60 Mercedes-Benz e-Citaro electric buses

The Wiener Linien transport company in Vienna, Austria has ordered 60 Mercedes-Benz eCitaro vehicles. The battery capacity of 392 kWh each ensures a long operating range. Pantographs also enable rapid charging at up to 300 kW and in this way increase the range and operating times.

CEN and ETSI deliver first set of standards for Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) in Europe

Standards organizations CEN and ETSI recently confirmed , at the 6 th ETSI workshop on ITS in Berlin, that the basic set of standards for Cooperative Intelligence Transport Systems (C-ITS), as requested by the European Commission in 2009, have now been adopted and issued. Connected cars are expected to appear on European roads in 2015.
