10k miles and counting
The cold weather is still taking its toll on the batteries and the volt sag is high. I haven't been on here in awhile. I few weeks ago I finally hit the big 10k EV mile marker! Other than that there really isn't much to report.

Transcript: We Look Back and Forward at EAA Annual Meeting
On a personal level, I hope that a year from now, my converted Prius will be a Chevy Volt and my Camry Hybrid will be a Nissan Leaf. The Chevy Volt and the Fisker Karma will be the first plug-in hybrids, following the BYD car that's already on sale.

What up with GM's Plug-in hybrid Volt?
"GM tries to unplug Volt hype" is not the headline I've been hoping to see out of Motor City this spring. The Volt grabbed headlines, lit up online chat boards and dominated the buzz at the auto show in Detroit. There's just one problem: The Volt may never get built. But there it is in a Detroit News Autos Insider piece today. Just weeks after announcing production, perhaps, in 2010, the industry's hometown paper lets us know this is no done deal.

Chevy Volt's mileage numbers to be released tomorrow
Yet, you can't buy one for at least another year? Tomorrow, GM will release the Volt's EPA mileage results, which I'm sure will be well over 100 mpg. Still, real world mileage of the Chevy Volt will be heavily dependent upon driving conditions, frequency of charging etc. Thus, the range of real world fuel economy of the Volt will be far greater than any other vehicle in history. Regardless, the Volt's mileage results will be impressive, and they will provide oodles of hype and PR opportunities, despite the fact that the Volt is still more than a year from launch; despite the fact that the Volt will face several years of limited production that will limit Volt availability to just tens of thousands of consumers for the first few years, minimally.

General Motors considers education a very important element in marketing the Chevrolet Volt. People have to understand the benefits of driving on electricity for environmental, social , and economic aspects. Learning the meaning of range anxiety and the advantage of an EREV over a pure EV is another educational objective for the automaker. Th

Another day, another announcement in the series of carefully timed press releases on the 2011 Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric car. In this case, it's the news that GM's investment in the Detroit-Hamtramck plant where the Volt will be built totals $336 million. General Motors says that sum brings its total invested in Michigan o

Volt guy drives a Tesla
To Dr Lyle Dennis, a NY physician, the GM Volt seemed a good idea so he started a website, gm-volt.com. It's become a big deal, although I doubt he's quitting his day job. He has even come to be a citizen-envoy to GM. Tesla Motors seems to have decided he could use a day with a Tesla.
