The BMW i8 plug-in hybrid ( earlier post ) was named the World Green Car at the World Car Awards in New York. Its battery-electric sibling, the BMW i3, took the same award in 2014. The Axon Automotive PHEV. UK-based Axon Automotive, a spin-off from Cranfield University, previewed a pre-production plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version of its lightweight city car at the Milton Keynes Science Festival. The Axon car is a multipurpose vehicle built for two adults plus luggage.
