The CTI will include a future rulemaking that will update the existing NO x standard which was last set in 2001 while also streamlining compliance and certification requirements. The US has made major reductions in NO x emissions, but it’s been nearly 20 years since EPA updated these standards.

The California Air Resources Board has approved the 2014 Honda Plug-in Hybrid Accord as the first car for sale in California that meets ARB’s LEV3/SULEV20 standard—the most stringent smog-emission standard to date. In October 2001, the group announced an agreement with Swedish startup H2 Green Steel. The steel will be used in standard production of cars at the BMW Group’s European plants from 2026 onwards, eventually reducing CO 2 emissions by up to 400,000 tons per year. Closed loop conserves resources and reduces CO 2 emissions.
