Sales of the Escape/Milan hybrid were down 11.3% American Honda Motor Co., Honda hybrid sales dropped 6% year-on-year to 1,898 units. to 152 units, but the new Honda Insight posted 1,746 units. General Motors dealers in the United States delivered 155,679 light duty vehicles in September, down 45% year-on-year.

GM dealers delivered 189,443 total vehicles in July, a 19.4% Retail sales were down 9% while fleet sales declined 47%. Ford Escape sales totaled 20,241, a July record and up 94% versus a year ago, and Mercury Mariner sales were up 71%. Total sales of the fuel-efficient Honda Civic increased 3.1% Monthly sales of hybrids.
