Electric trucks created in Washington, Tyne & Wear are today on the roads of Washington DC. Four major US corporations and two utility companies took delivery of the Smith Newton, the largest road-going electric truck in North America. It can be recharged in six hours.

Smith Electric powers ahead with utility truck

A battery powered, all electric utility truck with an aerial device has been produced by Smith Electric Vehicles US Corporation in association with Altec Industries Inc. The full battery recharge takes six-eight hours. The trucks will be assembled at the company’s 80,000sq ft Kansas City plant.
