Buoyed by the US government’s CARS (“Cash for Clunkers”) program, US auto sales slowed their decline in the US in July, dropping on 12.1% All comparisons are by volume. On 27 July, Chrysler restarted production at 9 of its 11 manufacturing facilities. Jeep Compass sales were up 95% (2,727 units) versus July 2008.
