Three-part catalyst study advances conversion of CO2 to ethanol

Green Car Congress

An international collaboration of scientists has taken a significant step toward the realization of a nearly “green” zero-net-carbon technology that can efficiently convert CO 2 and hydrogen into ethanol. None of the three components examined in the study is able to individually catalyze the CO 2 -to-ethanol conversion, nor can they in pairs.

BMW i Ventures invests in Prometheus Fuels; CO2 air-capture and conversion to carbon-neutral gasoline

Green Car Congress

The average car stays on the road for over eight years; meaning that even if the whole world switched to buying 100% electric cars tomorrow, it would still take almost a decade for today’s internal combustion engines to be off the road. Clearly we aren’t switching to 100% electric vehicles tomorrow, so that’s not fast enough. 2020.01.002.

Researchers develop highly efficient organometal halide perovskite photoelectrodes for water splitting

Green Car Congress

Unfortunately, OHP-based photoanodes suffer from two undesired losses that limit their efficiency: An internal loss resulting from a recombination of photogenerated charge carriers (required for electricity generation) within the anode itself, which, in turn, hinders water splitting. 202300951
