Petrobras awards Technip/DOF Subsea JV ~$3.5bn in contracts for four new pipelay support vessels; ultra-deep water capabilities

(Petrobras) has awarded the joint venture formed by Technip (50%) and DOF (50%) has eight contract covering the construction of four new pipelay support vessels (PLSVs) and operation in Brazilian waters to install flexible pipes. Two of the vessels, of VARD 3 05 design, will be delivered in 2Q 2016 and 3Q 2016 respectively.

US Navy Installing Combustion Trim Loop Systems on Wasp-Class Amphibious Ships; Projected 2.1% Fuel Savings

The US Navy began installing combustion trim loop systems this month on its Wasp-class amphibious ships to improve fuel efficiency and save up to 2,400 barrels of fuel per ship annually. The Navy installed a pilot system on USS Peleliu (LHA 5) in 2009 for testing in which the projections of reduced fuel consumption were confirmed.
