The Chevrolet Move will be the first Chinese vehicle assembled by GM in Egypt and the first SGMW vehicle assembled outside China. It was established in 2002 and is based in Liuzhou, Guangxi. SGMW manufactures a range of Wuling brand mini-trucks and passenger vehicles as well as the Baojun 630 midsize sedan.

SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), GM’s mini-commercial vehicle joint venture with SAIC and Wuling Motors, is launching the Baojun brand (Boajun is the Chinese word for “treasured horse”). It will enable us to better address the increasingly segmented Chinese vehicle market. The passenger cars of the new brand will be built and sold in China.

The Wuling N200 entered the Chinese market in 2007. SAIC-GM-Wuling, a joint venture between GM China, SAIC and Wuling Motors, was launched in 2002. SAIC-GM-Wuling manufactures a range of Wuling brand mini-trucks and minivans as well as the Chevrolet Spark mini-car. GM also will provide standard aftersales support.

It was a Manufacturing Failure, as GM NEVER planned to build the car in Volume, so No Economies of Scale were ever achieved. I had surmised this in my 2002 car design thesis [link] even before anyone was talking about plug in series hybrids. GM cant do it but a 15 year old chinese car company can.now thats funny!
