By making use of a previously undesired side effect in oil recovery, researchers at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT) have developed a method that yields up to 20% more heavy oil than traditional methods. Generally, less than 10% of heavy oil may be produced from reservoirs by natural flow after drilling the well.

Bosch is starting volume production of a new drive unit consisting of an electric motor and an integrated inverter for light commercial vehicles. By embedding the electric drive module in the vehicles’ existing water-cooling circuit, an oil-based cooling circuit is no longer necessary.

In the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (Arctic Refuge), US Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland has authorized the cancellation of the remaining seven oil and gas leases issued by the previous administration in the Coastal Plain. The leases were suspended in June 2021 following the issuance of Secretary’s Order (S.O.)

Petrobras has confirmed the presence of light hydrocarbons in block SEAL-M-426, in ultra-deep waters of Sergipe-Alagoas Basin. The discovery took place during drilling of well 1-BRSA-1083-SES (1-SES-167) known as Farfan, at a water depth of 2,720 meters (8,924 feet, or 1.7 Earlier post.) miles) northwest of the Farfan well.
