Volkswagen is now providing further details on the drive, running gear and convenience features of the sedan designed for long-distance driving. The new ID.7 on test drives in Spain. The new ID.7 will enhance the upper mid-size class in Europe, China and North America.

The 2024 Kia EV9 electric SUV will be built at the automaker's West Point, Georgia, factory starting in the 2024 calendar year, Kia announced Wednesday at the 2023 New York Auto Show. The ramp-up will happen after the EV9 goes on sale in the U.S. in the fourth quarter of this year, with initial units likely sourced from South Korea. Full U.S.

Volvo Cars reported sales of 162,938 cars for Q1 2023, up 10% compared to the same period last year. The sales growth was mainly led by the company’s fully electric cars. For the month of March, Volvo Cars sold 63,132 cars globally, up 8% compared with the same month last year. Volvo Cars’ Recharge line-up of chargeable models, with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain, made up 41% of all Volvo cars sold globally (67,403 units) in Q1 2023.

Ford on Wednesday confirmed that the F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck and Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring plug-in hybrid SUV will be eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit going forward, while all of its other current EVs and plug-in hybrids will be eligible for smaller amounts. Following the release of guidance from the U.S. Treasury.

The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid adds a second and more economical powertrain to the compact SUV that debuted last year. Kia has updated its mid- to long-term business strategy with a focus on electrification. Kia’s updated 2030 annual sales target is 4.3 million units, of which 2.38 million units will be electrified vehicles. The financial targets have also been increased to KRW 160 trillion (US$121.6 billion) in gross revenue, 16 trillion won (US$12.2 billion) in operating profit and 10% in operating profit margin.

Tesla board member and brother of CEO Elon Musk, Kimbal, cashed out $17 million in stock after exercising options from December under a 10b5-1 plan. Kimbal’s exercise price was $24.73, according to information obtained from an SEC filing. The plan allowed him to exercise options that were set to expire in June 2025, also allowing the Musk brother to acquire 100,000 shares at a price of $24.73, as the automaker’s stock is trading at around $180 at the time of writing.
