In 2025, Volvo Group’s truck plant in Ghent, Belgium will start to produce battery modules. To date, partners supply both cells and modules to the Group. The battery module manufacturing line in Ghent will be able to use battery cells both from partners and from the planned battery cell plant in Sweden.

Volvo Trucks opens its first battery plant; cells and modules from Samsung SDI

Volvo Trucks is opening its first battery assembly plant. Located in Ghent, Belgium, the plant will supply ready-to-install batteries for Volvo Trucks’ full electric heavy-duty trucks. Each battery pack has a capacity of 90 kWh and the customer can choose to have up to six battery packs (540 kWh) in a truck.

Flanders, Belgium transport operator to order 60 electric buses from Van Hool and VDL

The board of De Lijn, the public transport authority and operator in Flanders, Belgium, has approved the order of 60 electric buses from Van Hool and VDL. As the top-ranked competitor, Van Hool will supply 60% (36 e-buses) of the framework agreement’s initial 60 e-buses; VDL will supply 40% or 24 e-buses.
