They think BYD has a shot at becoming the worlds largest automaker, primarily by selling electric cars, as well as a leader in the fast-growing solar power industry. BYD has also begun selling a plug-in electric car with a backup gasoline engine, a move putting it ahead of GM, Nissan, and Toyota. Electric cars will be one answer.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. Its been improving over time, but the power density and cost issues are still steep for what exists thus far. Thats short-sighted. Let them go bankrupt.
