Audi is the first manufacturer to launch Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) technology in the US, with the deployment of Traffic Light Information in select 2017 Audi A4, Q7 and allroad models in Las Vegas. This “time-to-green” feature will be the first feature to leverage the Audi Traffic Light Information service.

In a real GRIDSMART system, they just send vehicle data to a controller, and it says, ‘I’ve got cars waiting, so it’s time to change the light.’

The US Department of Energy (DOE) will invest $32 million over the next four years to accelerate the design of new materials through use of supercomputers. Subsequent annual funding will be contingent on available appropriations and project performance. Funding for the new projects will total $8 million in Fiscal Year 2019.
