The report found that in 2009, 58% of adults believe that “Individuals should try to limit their car use for the sake of the environment”. In 2008, 64% agreed with that; in 2007, 63%; and in 2006, 62% agreed. Increasing tax on gasoline was supported by 10% of respondents in 2009, lower than in 2006 (14%).

Dreher, Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Department’s Environment and Natural Resources Division, announced the return of two indictments against six individuals and three companies for offenses involving federal renewable fuel programs, allegedly creating losses to victims totaling more than $100 million.

And yet clean diesel, one of the cleanest choices for putting the US on the road to energy independence, hasn’t see any sort of incentive since the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007. Do they get state or federal tax breaks? In fact in 6 of the states, diesel fuel is penalized with additional state taxes.

Support has declined 7 points from July 2008 (73%) and 12 points from 2007 (78%). Californians clearly support policies to improve the environment. It is the ninth survey on the environment since 2000 and is part of an annual series conducted with funding from The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. For subgroups it is larger.

One way we’re going to do them in is by taxing and regulating them to death. Also a new carbon tax on coal mining, a carbon tax on coal transporting, a carbon tax on burning coal, a carbon tax on any greenhouse gas emissions and a carbon tax on any waste from burning coal - all equal to an amount double the damage done.
