Toyota has launched the new model RAV4 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) ( earlier post ) through dealerships in Japan. The new RAV4 achieves maximum system output of 225 kW (306 PS), and maximum employment of the motor enables instantaneous acceleration and deceleration. The fifth generation RAV4 was released in April 2019.

BYD Japan, the Japanese branch of China-based BYD, marked its official entry into the passenger vehicle market in Japan with the Japanese debut of three BYD models: BYD ATTO 3, BYD Dolphin, and BYD Seal. BYD ATTO 3 is slated to become the first BYD passenger vehicle sold in Japan, with sales expected to begin in January 2023.

With the next-generation fuel cell system being co-developed with General Motors (GM), Honda will aim to more than double the durability and reduce the cost to one-third, in comparison to the fuel cell system installed in the 2019 Honda Clarity Fuel Cell. As the core of its hydrogen business, Honda will further advance its fuel cell system.

Seven-Eleven Japan Co., and Toyota Motor Corporation have concluded a basic agreement for studies on energy conservation and CO 2 emissions reduction in convenience store distribution and operation. Under consideration is the utilization of a fuel cell power generator as a power source at stores with hydrogen stations.
