A team of Malaysian scientists from the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus and Taylor’s University are examining the effects of adding graphene nanoflakes to various commercially available lubricants. Improved thermal conduction means the lubricant is better able to carry heat away from an engine.

Premium Renewable Energy (Malaysia) Sdn. has selected Envergent Technologies LLC, a Honeywell company, to perform the engineering design for a project that will use Envergent’s RTP Rapid Thermal Processing technology ( earlier post ) to convert palm biomass to renewable heat and electricity.

Bernama reports that Japan-based Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding may invest up to RM290 million (US$85 million) in a bio-ethanol plant in Malaysia, starting with a pilot plant for about RM40 million (US$11.7 The plant will use oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB) as feedstock; oil palm EFB is lignocellulosic biomass.
