The results of a new analysis by the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) show that, when combined with a trend toward higher methane leakage and combustion slip, there is no climate benefit from using liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a marine fuel—regardless of the engine technology. First, it contains very little sulfur.

They offer the prospect of increased market competition and oil price moderation and can help reduce the dependency on fossil fuels. Further worries include the impact on water resources.

Increasing electric car sales were the main reason for growth in the overall car market, which contracted by 8% for conventional (internal combustion engine) cars but grew by 5% in total, indicating that EV sales are continuing to perform as the market matures.
