Here's one of those first-generation Fairlanes, found in a self-service boneyard just south of Denver, Colorado. The build tag tells us that this car was assembled at Ford's Kansas City plant on July 14, 1964 (the day Jaxques Anquetil won the Tour de France ). This dusty sticker on the dash is a piece of obscure 1990s Denver history.

Today's Junkyard Find is one of those cars, found in a self-service boneyard near Denver, Colorado. The price tag on that car was $44,298, or about $157,037 in 2024 dollars. I'd found several discarded gray-market W126s in Colorado car graveyards before spotting this one, including a 1980 280 SEL , a 1980 500 SE and a 1983 500 SEC.

Here's one of those cars, found in a Denver boneyard recently. The 318 added $176 to the LeBaron's price tag ($856 in today's money), and it came with the often-troublesome computer-controlled Lean Burn ignition system. The base engine was a 225-cubic-inch Slant-6 rated at 110 horsepower and 180 pound-feet.
