After seeing the movie Who Killed The Electric Car , I got the nutty idea earlier this year to purchase an all-electric vehicle to commute to work. I was going to purchase an NmG from Myers Motors , but found the driver compartment a bit crowded and the driving range limited (only about 40 miles).

They finally responded last night and apparently they're completely buried under the demand for EV conversion kits. He got one of the earlier DC motor kits for the 914 from Electro Automotive.

After studying the AC kit diagrams and reading the motor controller documentation from Azure Dynamics, I think I understand a little better what all these relays and terminal strips are for. I tried to leave a space for the current shunt (between the two circle depressions), but I have no idea how big it actually is.

It turns out that if the voltage coming from my batteries fell into the 136 to 149 volt range (EE2NoAccelBat + EE2AccelRamp = 149), then the controller would linearly limit the power going into the motor down to zero when the voltage reached 136. With my driving frustration, this seemed like a good idea.

My ramblings on the 2022 EV scene I have an electric cycle, which is an eAdicct conversion kit added to a Schnell 26 inch cycle. I use my eBike for basic groceries and my morning workouts in the Balewadi stadium, although these days i hardly use the electric motor and end up just taking my cycle. The car was amazing.

Most EV manufacturers, even the likes of Hero Electric, are still importing motors from China. Krishna decided to go in for a geared motor.

Today, I installed the last kit piece that I have from Electro Automotive: the motor controller wiring harness. Just for grins, I plugged in the motor position indicator connector and inserted the main motor drive cable into the controller to get an idea what this thing might look like completed.
