In November, Tesla opened its EV charging connector design—called the North American Charging Standard (NACS)—to charging network operators and vehicle manufacturers. Now, the Charging Interface Initiative (CharIN e.V.) CCS and MCS are the global standards for charging vehicles of all kinds.

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) released for public review and comment a draft of the Roadmap of Standards and Codes for Electric Vehicles at Scale developed by the Institute’s Electric Vehicles Standards Panel ( EVSP ). This includes recommending pre-standardization research and development (R&D) where needed.

Audi is actively involved in the EEBUS initiative to promote networking across manufacturer and industry boundaries. The Audi e-tron’s charging system is the first on-board EV system to use the new communication standard. Cars are stationary for most of the day, which leaves a great deal of time for flexible charging.
