will install a network of intelligent charging points at the home addresses of owners of the new Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid and at all Toyota dealers in the Netherlands. The company expects to install between 1,300 and 2,500 charging points at the homes of owners in 2012, and 117 double charging points at Toyota dealers.

The Toyota Prius was the top-seller in Japan for the 14 th month in a row, according to the monthly brand ranking data from the Japan Automobile Dealers Association. Sales of the Prius hit 34,456 units in July, up 24.3% In the US, the Prius posted July sales of 14,102 units, down 26.4%. year-on-year.

If repurchase behavior among the high-volume audience of Toyota Prius owners isn’t factored in, hybrid loyalty drops to less than 25%. As an example, the Honda Civic is the second most cross-shopped vehicle among both Toyota Prius and Honda Insight shoppers. Hybrid vehicles represent 2.4%

Last month, Toyota said that it had 2,100 pre-orders for the 2012 Prius Plug-In Hybrid. Now, with first sales of that car being logged this week and dozens of them delivered to dealers, we have a third viable, high-volume plug-in car available to U.S.

If you want to buy a new 2011 Toyota Prius hybrid these days, you may have to scramble. In auto industry terms, that means "sold out," and dealers are charging higher markups on the few precious Priuses they still have. Supplies are down to 3,000 units, which is less than 10 days' worth of sales. 75,000 coming.

A study by researchers at the Institute of Transportation Studies, UC Davis finds that buyers of plug-in vehicles (PEVs) are substantially less satisfied with the dealer purchase experience than buyers of conventional vehicles—with the notable exception of Tesla buyers. In some cases, dealers outright discouraged PEV purchases.
