The startup carmaker Rivian was founded a decade ago by RJ Scaringe, but it didn’t go public with its electric pickup truck and SUV until the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. The company says more than 50,000 people have put down cash for reservations in the sales queues for both the pickup and the SUV that will follow shortly. Stay tuned.

On January 28 GM announced that it plans (aspires) to exclusively offer electric vehicles by 2035, ending production of its cars, trucks and SUVs with diesel- and gasoline-powered engines. She mentioned that an electric GMC Hummer weighs about 9,000 pounds (4,000 kilograms), with a battery pack that weighs 2,900 pounds (1,300 kilograms) on its own which is roughly the weight of a regular Honda Civic. She claims that the Mustang Mach E electric SUV and the Volvo XC40 EV are around 33% heavier than their fuel versions.

Spark Racing Technology, which developed all three generations of the Formula E race car, created a custom electric SUV, the Odyssey 21, for Extreme E. Formula E showed that EVs can be fast.

↓ ↑ report 10 Pixls 11:45PM (4/09/2009) well i think, in a perfect world there would be some level of uniformity to the batteries per car of course not all cars would have the same pack, that would be impossible, but perhaps, an SUV pack, a sport pack, minivan pack, and like regular car or something.

Blending the MPG of SUVs and small cars understates the real consumption and rewards automakers for building gas hogs and unsafe micro cars which makes people want to buy "safe" gas hogs.
