CARB approves 2022 Scoping Plan; aggressive targets for reductions in petroleum use, air pollution and greeenhouse gas emissions

US DOE Awards $300 Million in Clean Cities Grants to Support Alternative Fuels, Vehicles, and Infrastructure Development

These projects put more than 9,000 alternative fuel and energy-efficient light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles on the road, and establish 542 refueling locations across the country. The project will deploy 502 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles through 119 public and private fleets throughout the state.

Dana to provide e-propulsion system for Class 8 truck hydrogen fuel development project in Alberta, Canada

The trucks, developed for Alberta’s unique operating environment, will be 64-tonne (gross vehicle weight) B-train tractor-trailers capable of traveling up to 430 miles (700 km) between refueling. At the conclusion of the project, the trucks will have carried approximately 12 million tonne-miles of freight.

Prototype Mack heavy-duty plug-in hybrid truck part of e-Highway demo near Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles

The goal of the project is to reduce air pollution at freight-intensive locations, such as the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, the two largest ports in the US. Siemens installed the eHighway infrastructure, which covers one mile of select lanes of a highway with a catenary system similar to those used to power trolleys or streetcars.

Ballard fuel cell modules to power 64t B-train tractor-trailers in Canadian hydrogen project AZETEC

The AZETEC project will test hydrogen as a zero-emissions alternative fuel to diesel, along with the refueling infrastructure and other systems that would be required for Alberta to implement this new fuel solution. These modules will utilize Ballard’s liquid-cooled LCS technology, planned for commercial availability in 2019.
