The majority of vehicles registered in 2018 were powered by gasoline engines, with the fuel type making up 57% of all registrations.

DOT and DOE will also launch a new Advisory Committee on Electric Vehicles and is targeting to appoint members to this committee by the end of the first quarter of 2022.

Using electricity production data by source and state, the DOE’s Alternative Fuels Data Center has estimated the annual carbon dioxide (CO 2 e)-equivalent emissions of a typical EV.
