Rio launches electric taxi program with Nissan LEAFs

The city of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) is launching an electric taxi program, through a partnership between the Rio de Janeiro City Government, Nissan do Brasil Automóveis (NBA) and Petrobras Distribuidora. In the first phase, two Nissan LEAF taxis will be available in Rio. By the end of the year, 13 more units will be added to the fleet.

Nissan LEAF top-selling EV in UK in January, with 230 registrations

Nissan sold 230 units of the LEAF in the UK in January 2014. Nearly three-quarters of all battery-electrics sold in January 2014 were Nissan LEAFs, continuing the trend from 2013. Nissan also recently announced that 1,000 CHAdeMO rapid chargers have now been installed across Europe, with almost 20% of them in the UK.

Nissan has installed 1,000 CHAdeMO quick chargers in Europe. Nissan says that the installation of the quick chargers significantly increases the uptake and usage of electric vehicles. The rate of installation of CHAdeMO quick chargers across Europe rose sharply in 2013, increasing access for Nissan LEAF customers.

DBT CEV fast chargers power 3 LEAFs 12,500 km over 42 days in 2012 Oranje Trophy

Three Nissan LEAF electric vehicles drove 12,500 km (7,767 miles) through ten countries in 42 days supported by France-based DBT CEV’s fast charging technology as part of the 2012 Oranje Trophy. The CHAdeMO-compliant (Rev.0.9) DC quick charger has an output voltage range of DC50 ~ 500V and current range of up to 125A.

Nissan accelerating rollout of EV quick charge network in Europe by giving away 400 stations

Nissan is accelerating plans for a European-wide Quick Charge (QC) network for electric vehicles by giving 400 new quick charging stations free of charge to EV charging operators. The new Nissan quick chargers ( earlier post ) are engineered to the CHAdeMo standard and can deliver up to 50 kW of high voltage direct current (DC) electricity.
