Port of Long Beach achieves record pollution reductions; diesel PM down 88%, NOx down 56%

The Port of Long Beach has achieved clean air records in its latest study of air pollution emissions, including an 88% reduction in diesel particulate matter. The Port has been monitoring its progress in air quality improvements since 2005. Smog-forming nitrogen oxides were down 56%, also a record.

Mayor of London floats action plan to reduce city’s air pollution

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has outlined plans to crackdown on the most polluting vehicles, including an additional £10 (US$13) per day charge for the most polluting vehicles and an extended Ultra-Low Emission Zone. The public has until 29 July 2016 to provide feed back on the first round of the Clean Air Plan consultation.

Canada publishes proposed regulations for criteria pollutants from locomotives
