The electricity for recharging has to come from somewhere, which means power plants. Depending upon where you live, power plants are often burning natural resources. Toyota still has not made any money on the Prius. Another point; a Jetta diesel has near the same mileage as a Prius and the Jetta Blue TDI will exceed the Prius.
