The Wolfcamp shale in the Midland Basin portion of Texas’ Permian Basin province contains an estimated mean of 20 billion barrels of oil, 16 trillion cubic feet of associated natural gas, and 1.6 billion barrels of natural gas liquids, according to an assessment by the US Geological Survey.

Billions of barrels of oil may be potentially recoverable from residual oil zones in the US, according to initial findings from a study supported by the US Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy (FE). Residual oil zones (ROZs), are areas of immobile oil found below the oil-water contact of a reservoir.

Javelina controls approximately sixty million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) of hydrogen production through a combination of hydrogen entrained in the refineries’ waste gas that the facility processes, and hydrogen produced through a steam methane reformer process. Howard closed on the purchase of Javelina in February of this year.
