Models with larger batteries – “EV-first” designs – tended to have higher utility factors and lower emissions. Electrek’s Take We’ve long thought that PHEVs are only good if they actually get used, and in order to do that, you need to design PHEVs to be used on battery charge only. But the numbers are high regardless of country.

The title of WhatGreenCar Car of the Year 2009 has been awarded to the ‘next generation’ Toyota Prius, due to be launched in the UK on 1 st August 2009. The new Prius was chosen from a short-list of 10 green car finalists which were test-driven at Imperial College, London, by six of the UK’s leading green transport and environmental experts.

We firmly believe that fuel cell hybrid vehicles will play a major role in reducing emissions and achieving sustainable mobility, alongside petrol and plug-in hybrids and pure electric vehicles. With 600 Prius Plug-in-Hybrids ( earlier post ) already on the road in a worldwide leasing project, some 200 are in Europe.

As Toyota took the wraps off its latest hybrid offerings at the Toyko Motor Show, the carmaker vowed to build petrol-electric versions of all its vehicles by 2020, in anticipation of a booming market for hybrids. Designed for urban mobility, Toyota say it will still have room for four seats on board.
