SpaceX has begun making drastic changes to its Starship launch pad in Florida after months of no activity. Until the past couple of weeks, SpaceX seemed to be in a wait-and-see mode as it conducted three Starship test flights from Starbase and gathered data on the effects of 33 Raptor engines thundering away at the launch pad.

SpaceX appears to be preparing to ship a huge collection of hardware – including parts of a possible launch deluge system – from Florida to Texas. The resurgence of work on a totally different Starship pad design at 39A in late 2021 likely made that hardware redundant.

Prior test flights used Rocket 1, Rocket 2, and Rocket 3 prototypes as Astra refined its design and embraced a hardware-rich development style that didn’t shy away from failure. Powered by five Delphin engines, the first stage produces up to ~145 kilonewtons (32,500 lbf) of thrust at liftoff. We have received our license.

The Ohio State (OSU) & Wilberforce University Team has been named the winner of Year One of the EcoCAR Electric Vehicle (EV) Challenge, taking the lead in the four-year collegiate engineering competition. The Team’s complex embedded system designs were impressive. Overall, the team earned a total of 850 points out of 1000.
