Mercedes-Benz Cars plants in Germany to be supplied with CO2-neutral energy from 2022

Green Car Congress

In Germany, Mercedes-Benz Cars has eight vehicle and powertrain plants (Bremen, Rastatt, Sindelfingen, Berlin, Hamburg, Kamenz, Kölleda, Stuttgart-Untertürkheim), which either purchase electricity or operate their own power plants. This corresponds to about three quarters of the required electricity in the German plants.

Panasonic to begin mass-production of long-life Li-ion battery system for solar-powered homes in Europe

Green Car Congress

In Germany and other European countries, governments are cutting purchase prices for solar power in order to rein in the expansion of solar power generation, which led to increases in energy prices, Panasonic noted. In so doing, Panasonic aims for a leading position in providing a solution to protect the power grid system.

Are EVs Charged Mostly By Coal Power in the US?

EV Adoption

Last year I wrote an article — Electric Vehicles Have Lower Well-to-Wheel Emissions in All 50 States and DC Than Gas-Powered Vehicles — looking at “well to wheel” from the US Department of Energy and my own analysis of EV sales and source of electricity by state. Said another way, residents of California purchased 390.9

False Starts: The Story of Vehicle-to-Grid Power

Cars That Think

It occurred in the wake of the California electricity crisis of 2000 and 2001, when mismanaged deregulation, market manipulation, and environmental catastrophe combined to unhinge the power grid. Once electricity is generated and passes into the grid, it is typically used almost immediately.

What Is Bidirectional Charging? Understanding the Benefits for Both Drivers and Businesses

EV Connect

In one-directional charging, alternating current (AC) electricity is converted to direct current (DC) energy that’s stored in an EV battery to power the car. With a bidirectional charger, the converter can transform the car’s DC energy back into AC electricity and pass it along to another recipient.
