British EV technology company Electrogenic, known for its classic car EV conversions, has expanded its range of drop-in conversion kits with a cost-effective plug and play solution to electrify the classic Mini.Electrogenic’s kit converts the automotive icon to electric drive from just £15,000 (US$18,800) plus VAT.

Poway, California-based Plug In Conversions Corp. kWh NiMH plug-in hybrid (PHEV) conversion kit that enables all-electric mode driving at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour (until the battery pack is depleted) in a converted Prius. The car is no longer limited to 34 miles per hour, all-electric.

After spending the past year and a half converting a Porsche 914 to an electric vehicle, I decided to expand my horizons by designing an open-source electric vehicle (EV) conversion kit for a commonly used car. This project started about a month ago when I became co-chair of the Oregon Electric Vehicles Association.

And this year, unlike other recent years, all of them were gasoline-fueled. An electric motor can be clutched in with or without the 3.6-liter liter V-6 engine to the 8-speed automatic transmission, providing up to 22 electric miles. Does that still mean multiple electric Jeeps will be trekking to Moab in the future?
Porsche 914 EV Conversion

I drove the electric 914 back out to Camp914 where I originally purchased the car and drove it away as a gasoline vehicle. Since the round-trip drive was 44 miles and included several long hills, I charged up for an hour out at camp just to give myself a bit of breathing room. Yesterday was fun.
