A recently completed European project coordinated by Centro Ricerche Fiat (CRF) demonstrated the technical feasibility of a Bi 2 Te 3 -based thermoelectric generator (TEG) for waste heat recovery for application to a diesel light-duty truck (LDT). Spark plasma sintering uses an electric current to heat the sample and to activate sintering.

This proprietary novel gas fermentation technology converts the carbon monoxide-containing waste gases emitted by blast furnace, coke oven and BOF (basic oxygen furnace) operations into low-cost ethanol and high-value chemicals. So here our isobutene would allow us to integrate this very cheap fossil component into the fuel.

Proponents believe such a car could be easily refuelled with hydrogen and assumed it would have greater range than a pure all-electric car. Little seems developed in any wide commercial sense and certainly not to the extent of the pure electric car. It is important to realize that a fuel cell car is actually an electric car.

And oil only seems cheap. That means we’ll be powering some miles with increasingly renewable electricity that isn't made from imported oil. Using existing technology, we can convert many of them into plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles. We can’t continue ever-riskier experiments to get oil from remote locations.
