The Chinese electrified vehicle maker Leapmotor will launch in Australia in late 2024 as part of an international expansion backed by global auto giant Stellantis. Beyond that it has a variety of existing models it could add here quickly including the Mini-sized T03 electric car that has already been confirmed for European sale.

Back in October 2023, Europe launched its formal investigation into the Chinese EV industry, as European companies are struggling to compete with the cheap, high-tech Chinese imports, made by low-cost labor, entering the European Union.

Chinese automaker BYD (Build Your Dreams) doesn’t currently sell vehicles in the U.S., BYD said it also plans to build a factory in Mexico with an annual capacity of 150,000 cars, though it will be a while before it selects a site for the plant. but it’s coming awfully close to our borders.

In other words, legacy automakers that are still selling gas-powered cars. This will make it hard for traditional gas cars to compete.
