C2G emissions are a sum of WTW emissions and emissions associated with vehicle manufacturing. Using current technologies, all evaluated biofuel, battery electric, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicle pathways offer significant C2G GHG emissions reduction compared to the current gasoline internal combustion engine vehicle.

California’s latest greenhouse gas data shows that while the state continues to stay below its 2020 target for emissions, there is much more work to do to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045. Every year, the California Air Resources Board (ARB) posts an Annual Crude Average carbon intensity calculation, using the the Oil Production Greenhouse Gas Emission Estimator (OPGEE) Model. Crude oil from California, Alaska and 11 countries account for 95% of the volume supplied to California in any given year.

On 18 August 2020, $27 million in funding will be available in California to replace higher polluting trucks with zero-emission vehicles. Existing vehicles must be engine model years 1992 to 2012, in compliance with all applicable regulations, and scrapped in exchange for a zero-emission replacement vehicle.
