A bill under consideration in the California state legislature would require California’s Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) to include Class III (280 cc or greater) model-year 2000 and newer motorcycles in the state’s smog check program beginning 1 January 2012. g/km HC+NO x beginning in 2008 for major manufacturers.

Biodiesel blends became mandatory in early 2008, quickly followed by a raise in blend levels from 2 to 3% in July of the same year and from 3 to 4% in 2009. Emissions testing. Currently, Brazil is fourth, with Germany, the US and France in the number 1, 2 and 3 positions respectively. The increase to 5% was originally planned for 2013.

Motorcycles in California could soon be included under the state’s smog checking programme if a bill is passed. Currently there are around 575,000 motorcycles registered in California with the model year of 2000 or higher. There are fears however, that it might be affected by tampering.

It is hoped that with fuel economy improvements, the Euro IV emission levels will be achieved. In April 2008, Changan displayed a prototype engine developed with Orbital at the Beijing International Motor Show. Currently, FlexDI is only applied in non-automotive applications such as motorcycles, outboard engines and ATVs.
